Poised for the Future

In early November 2022, Second Line Stages completed a 222,000-square-foot expansion to meet the industry’s escalating demand for first-class studio space. The expansion added more than two city blocks to the studio campus and included five new sound stages, additional production offices and support space, plus a new basecamp.

With the expansion, the studio offers today eight best-in-class sound stages, ranging in size from 7,400 SF to 30,400 SF and totaling 128,500 SF; approximately 154,000 SF of production offices and support space; a 48-seat digital theater and mixing stage; and a basecamp and parking, totaling 230,000 SF.

In May of 2023, Second Line Stages will deliver an additional 13,000 SF of production support space.

A Nod to Our Past: A Timeline

2010

Developed by Susan Brennan and film consultant Trey Burvant on the grounds of the former Toye Brothers Cab Company, the studio opens with three stages and a contemporary office tower. The development combines new construction with the restoration of two 19th-century warehouses.

2013

The studio expands its footprint by transforming the historic Crescent Paper Box building into production offices on Constance Street. The redevelopment preserves the building’s 14-foot-ceilings, open floor plans and wrap-around windows to flood the space with an abundance of natural light.

2020

Second Lines Stages is acquired by an affiliate of Hackman Capital Partners, with plans to expand the studio’s offerings. Hackman Capital, the industry’s leading film studio owner and operator, has now invested approximately $100 M in the studio, including its expansion and operating platform.

2022

A 222,000-square-foot expansion is completed at the studio, including the addition of five new sound stages, production offices, support space and a base camp. Construction is currently underway for an additional 13,000 square feet of support space, with anticipated completion in May 2023.
